We are delighted to offer Ward Clerk opportunities for well-organised individuals to join the teams on the following areas.
Wards G4 and G6, both of which are a 27 bedded Wards specialising in caring for medical patients aged 75 and over. Some of whom suffer with dementia, delirium and Parkinson's disease.
Ward N3 is a 25 bedded ward specialising in the care of patients with respiratory conditions. The Ward consists of general ward beds and a Respiratory Care Unit for our acutely unwell patients.
The Transplant Unit is predominantly based on Ward G5, a 28 bedded Transplant Ward, specialising in renal, liver, pancreas and multiorgan transplants. However will provide support to F5 also, which is a 5 bedded transplant high dependency area.
For all areas, you must be able to work both independently and within a team. You will provide an efficient and effective administration service for the Ward. You will need excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise your workload and work well under pressure.
You must be willing to learn, and work proactively on your own initiative. You should have excellent verbal, written, IT and customer care skills with a good understanding and practical experience of Microsoft applications. You must be able to uphold our Values of Together, Safe, Kind, and Excellent at all times.
Main duties of the job
- Meet and receive patients, visitors and other members of staff to the ward in a polite, courteous and professional manner.
- Answer the telephone and relay accurate messages as appropriate.
- Maintain effective communications between patients, their relatives and the team within the department.
- Liaise with all members of the multi professional team to ensure effective communications are maintained within the department and with other areas in the Trust.
- Report complaints or concerns to the nurse in charge.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff to the ward within the ward clerk remit.
- Be responsibility for ensuring that the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of patients, relatives and colleagues is respected at all times.
- Keeping Epic System up to date re capacity (admissions, discharges, transfers etc).
