Ward Clerk - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Job summary

We are looking for a friendly, adaptable and well organised person to join our multi-disciplinary team to work on our busy Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a Ward Clerk. Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Previous experience in a hospital environment would be an advantage.

Hours are shift work on a rota basis - 07:45am - 20:15PM including weekends and Bank Holidays.

Main duties of the job

To provide efficient and effective clerical support within the Neonatal Unit.

Be the first point of contact on the ward for staff, patients and visitors either face to face or over the telephone.

Input information onto the EPIC system.

Be responsible for the administrative admission of all babies to the ward.

Filing and sorting patient notes as required ensuring adherence to clinical governance policies and procedures.

Return notes and documents no longer required on the Unit to Medical Records, ensuring that all necessary documentation/filing has been completed.

Emailing or phoning out transfers and discharges as necessary.

Support the ward security by screening visitors to the ward via the ward entry and exit system.
