Job summary
We are looking to appoint a well organised, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our small Admin Team which provides professional, efficient, effective high quality administrative, secretarial and reception support to our dynamic, supportive and friendly Speech and Language Therapy Service (SLT) at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
You will work in the main SLT offices in Addenbrooke's Hospital offering a friendly and efficient first point of contact to patients and visitors to the department.
You should have the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, be organised and have excellent attention to detail. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, liaise with staff at all levels in a confident manner.
Main duties of the job
Greeting patients/visitors to the dept
Answering all telephone calls to the dept and managing emails which all include complex and confidential patient related information.
Managing the dept's outpatient waiting lists including triage, arranging all outpatient appointments, booking hospital transport, actioning appointment letters etc using the Trust's electronic Patient Information system.
Dealing with Speech and Language Therapist's administrative needs and typing routine letters and complex reports.
Confidence in IT and keyboard use and the ability to type quickly and accurately is essential. Competence in hospital systems such as EPIC and Oracle would be a strong advantage.
The ability to prioritise effectively and to remain calm and focused under pressure is important as the position can be very demanding.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a priority as the post holder is the first point of contact for our Service and we work with people who are experiencing several communication problems.
