As Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services within our Blood Sciences Specimen Reception Team.

An on-site practical assessment may be required as part of the recruitment process and there is an expectation that the post holder will participate in the delivery of a 24/7 laboratory service.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the role:

Perform sample receipt and data entry.

Maintain clinical records in relation to activities carried out.

To work flexibly in reflection of service needs, this may include an extended working day and / or participation in delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service.

Follow policies and procedures ensuring that the quality management system of Pathology is complied with.

The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues and hazardous chemicals. This may include blood, pus, urine, faeces, respiratory secretions.

NB: Post holder must not work outside their defined field of competence
