Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology with sub-specialty interest in Glaucoma at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
The duties of this post will include sub-specialty clinics, procedural sessions (laser clinics and/or intravitreal injection lists), emergency eye clinics and theatre lists.
You will have 4 years full-time post graduate experience (or equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty, or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

The Department of Ophthalmology provides a busy service for our local population in addition to receiving referrals from across the region for sub-specialty services. The department places a strong emphasis on sub-specialisation, providing every sub-specialty except ocular oncology.
This is a replacement post to support the glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology service in the department.
This post would be suitable for an Ophthalmologist who did not wish to provide surgery. This post would also suit applicants wishing to gain experience towards an application for the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
The timetable can be adapted depending on an applicants expertise and/or interest, or, to provide CESR training sessions in appropriate sub-specialty services on a rotational basis in accordance with the service needs of the department.
