Gynaecology Practice Development Nurse

Job summary

We have a full time secondment opportunity within Gynaecology for a Practice Development Nurse (PDN) who will be responsible for developing and enhancing specialist nursing knowledge, skills & competencies within Gynaecology directorate.

The post holder will make appropriate use of the latest evidence to share and develop the practice of nursing staff within the service and will be expected to supervise practice, audit clinical care, teach and support nursing staff and to provide skilled professional leadership and guidance within Gynaecology.

The post holder will bring a proactive influence imparting knowledge in a range of innovative ways to improve standards and ensure the gynaecology nursing staff across all areas are confident, competent, skilled and safe practitioners.

The post holder will work closely with the practice development facilitators, team leaders and Gynaecology Matron to ensure that the training and development needs of nursing staff are met within each of the Gynaecology areas. There will be an expectation to manage and support both the pre-registration student and the Gynaecology rotational programmes.

Act as a supportive, professional role model and resource for staff & learners in practice, the classroom and external organisations.Liaise effectively and proactively with external organisations to maximise support and opportunities.

This is a Monday to Friday role.

Main duties of the job

As a Registered Nurse the post holder will be required to have the appropriate knowledge, skills and competences to deliver supervision, training and advice to all staff within Gynaecology and working with the wider multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will also be required to attend and participate in practice development forums and workshops, directorate meetings, including staff meetings, focus groups and benchmarking groups.

Be a clinical expert providing visionary leadership, with a clear focus on resource and all matters relating to practice development in the Gynaecology Services including the development of the rotational programme for Registered Nurses as well as supporting pre-registration students.

Take a proactive role in collaboratively working with the Matron and Gynaecology Management Team and the MDT in the delivery of Clinical Development within Gynaecology.
