Job summary
Applications are invited for the posts of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST6+) in Gastroenterology. These posts are available to commence 04 March 2026 until 03 March 2027.There are two posts available:Clinical Fellow Higher (ST6+) in Gastroenterology (IBD)Clinical Fellow Higher (ST6+) in Gastroenterology (Endoscopy)These posts provide an opportunity to develop Gastroenterology practice in a state of the art Endoscopy facility at one of the world's leading teaching hospitals, or in IBD care working alongside a world leading team of expert IBD clinicians.
Main duties of the job
The IBD post holder will have the opportunity to gain exposure to all aspects of management of a cohort of around 7,000 patients with IBD, including IBD clinics, dedicated MDTs, joint clinics with colorectal surgeons, joint MDTs with other specialties, IBD endoscopy and IBD clinical trials. The post holder will work closely with IBD consultants and support the work of the wider team including IBD specialist nurses, IBD pharmacists, IBD dieticians, IBD psychologists and our dedicated IBD administrative staff.
The successful applicants for the endoscopy post will have an opportunity to develop their practice in Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy with associated lists, training lists and research opportunities. The focus of these posts are training in Therapeutic Endoscopy. Depending on the candidate's interest and availability of training capacity in the Department, we will be able to provide training centered in EUS, ERCP or in Advanced Therapeutic endoscopy including: Colonoscopy EMR, Dilatation, Botox and Stenting, Balloon Enteroscopy and Video Capsule Endoscopy.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
