The closing date is 08 July 2025

Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST3-5/ST6+) for the Adult Critical Care Transfer Service (East of England) with Anaesthesia (Cambridge University Hospitals).

These roles are available from 05 February 2026 or 06 August 2026 for a period of 6 or 12 months.

The East of England Adult Critical Care Transfer Service is recruiting Clinical Fellows (Higher), partnering with a Transfer Practitioner (Critical Care Nurse / ODP) and a dedicated ambulance and driver to undertake duty shifts. Following initial induction, training and sign-off period with direct consultant supervision, CF(H)s will undertake ongoing clinical shifts with remote supervision from Duty Consultants, with some direct supervision.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Fellow (Higher) post has been developed for anaesthetists and intensivists who have independent experience in anaesthesia or ICM specialist training programme. Transfer medicine offers a unique opportunity to apply anaesthetic, emergency medicine and intensive care skills in the care of the critically unwell patient in a remote but supported environment. They should ideally have at least 5 years' experience in anaesthesia and ICM, with at least 3 months spent in the UK or equivalent system.

Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean's approval or training recognition.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

About us

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Applications from job seekers who require skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information, please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.
