Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST3-5/ST6+) in Paediatric Neurosurgery commencing on 06 August 2025 until 04 August 2026.
Main duties of the job
The paediatric neurosurgery service provides an elective and emergency service for Cambridge and East Anglia region and beyond. The successful candidate will stand to gain experience in all aspects of paediatric neurosurgical practice in a busy unit that carried out around 250 paediatric neurosurgical procedures in the last year, placed above the medial for national numbers of paediatric tumours.
A wide range of paediatric neurosurgical pathology would be seen, and the successful candidate would be involved in all aspects of patient care, including participation in an on-call rota (which includes adult practise), clinics, elective and emergency operating, leading the ward round and teaching of juniors. At least 1/3rd of paediatric neurosurgery is hydrocephalus management, and an active interest in complex hydrocephalus management is desirable. In addition to the clinical role, it is expected that the successful candidate will become involved with research, with a view to publication and presentation at national and international meetings.
The post is suitable for a neurosurgical trainee or post CCT neurosurgeon wanting to specialise in paediatric neurosurgery.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.
