Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity at CUH PET-CT/Nuclear Medicine department, we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Individuals to become a Clinical Support Worker (CSW) band 3 post. For this you will already have experience in a clinical setting or our keen to expand your horizons into a clinical setting helping the Radiographers and Technologists in PET-CT and Nuclear Medicine.

You will be involved in types of imaging that are not carried out anywhere else in the country and in some research instances the world. Due to our close links to the University and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, we can offer the opportunity to work with the most up to date technology and imaging protocols and be at the forefront of new research and development techniques.

The department has a state of the art new digital PET-CT scanner, where we see approx. 18-20 patients per day.You will be involved assisting the patient through their procedure, cannulating the patients, checking blood sugars and double checking the measuring of radiotracers. You will also be expected to help get patients on and off the scanner and assist the smooth operation of the department you will be an integral part of the team. There is also some admin duties associated with this role too. Once trained in PET-CT there will be an opportunity to rotate to Nuclear Medicine at a future date.

Main duties of the job

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, assist in the effective provision and service delivery in the PET-CT/Nuclear Medicine Department.

You will be required to carry out a wide range of duties to include, cannulation, double checking of isotopes, ordering of stock, hand hygiene audits, some clerical duties, manual handling all of this could be independently and/or as part of our multi-disciplinary team.

You will be required to work flexibly

To attend training courses/ study days where appropriate

Training will be given to successful applicants.

You will have:

1. Good basic General education, a relevant NVQ is desirable.

2. Previous experience in a customer focused environment, experience in a Hospital setting is desirable.
