Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated nurse with excellent communication skills to join our team as a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse on the Lewin stroke and rehabilitation unit at Cambridge University Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The Lewin is a 26 bedded stroke and rehabilitation unit that delivers excellent nursing and therapy treatment to facilitate the recovery and stroke pathway process available to our post stroke service users. It has a strong multi-disciplinary team, providing care to patients following a stroke.

Closely supported by the ward manager and Matron you will work together as part of the Band 6 team to ensure the smooth running of the unit. You will also be supported to develop in your role as a leader within the exciting field of Stroke.

This post involves and full range of shifts including Bank Holidays, nights and weekends and will require participation in the oversight of the MDTs during the week.

  • Current registration with the NMC as an adult nurse with experience in Neurosciences and/or acute settings .
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Practice assessor and supervisor.

Desirable

  • Completion of a management leadership program.
  • Evidence of teaching qualification.
  • Level 6 or 7 course in Stroke Nursing or evidence of working towards this.

Experience

  • Sound Clinical Practice within an acute clinical area.
