Main duties of the job

The duties of this post include providing medical cover for the Day Unit, Cancer Admissions Unit, inpatient ward, and clinics. This will involve the management of patients with haematological malignancies and non-malignant haematological disorders, and will also include ambulatory care for stem cell transplantation within our Day Unit. There may be an opportunity to gain experience in aspects of Laboratory Haematology.

However as the postholder will be covering the same duties as in a training post, there is a potential for the competencies achieved during this time to be counted towards training time, if the post holder was to join a Haematology Higher Training rotation. It is also a post well suited to those wanting to gain experience at a SpR level prior to applying for a formal training post.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.
