Job summary

We have an opportunity available for a Dosimetrist to join the Radiotherapy Department.

You will work within the Treatment Planning, Brachytherapy and Mould Room areas (as required) as part of a team or independently, providing a highly specialist clinical and technical service.

You will be responsible, together with physicists and other members of the planning group, for preparing and checking treatment plans for patients undergoing radiotherapy. Within the Mould Room, you will have direct contact with patients and work with Doctors and Radiographers to produce individualised immobilisation devices.

Main duties of the job

Work within the Treatment Planning, Tomotherapy, Brachytherapy and Mould Room areas (as required) as part of a team or independently, providing a highly specialist clinical and technical service.

Responsible, together with Physicists and other members of the Planning Group, for preparing and checking treatment plans for patients undergoing radiotherapy.

Be involved in the clinical developments of the department through the introduction of new techniques and the training of others.

  • Diploma of the College of Radiographers or B.Sc. Hons equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council registration OR BSc in Clinical Technology (or equivalent)
  • Completion of IPEM accredited Technologist Training scheme
  • On Register of Clinical Technologists

Desirable

  • Further Education in Treatment Planning MSc level modules
  • Training received or working towards: oM.Sc. level award oResearch methodologies

Experience

Essential

  • Radiotherapy treatment planning experience: oPost graduate experience with the production of complex treatment plans
  • Training and education: oInformal teaching and training of a variety of healthcare professionals
