The Finance Team at Cambridge University Hospitals are launching a new Financial Management Apprenticeship role which will enable the successful candidate to study for a professional accountancy qualification - the Assistant Accountant Level 3 Apprenticeship (with AAT - Association of Accounting Technicians - Level 3 included). This role will combine study alongside gaining experience and training in a busy and diverse finance team.

This is a 24 month fixed term developmental role with the opportunity to progress to an Assistant Management Accountant role (Band 4) and up to a Management Accountant (Band 5) role upon achievement of your training goals.

Main duties of the job

Key elements of the role:

  • Once trained, to work with the finance team to complete month end routine requirements
  • To develop the skills to be able to investigate significant variances by interrogating all the financial ledger sub-systems and liaising with budget holders
  • To meet regularly with budget holders, initially with colleagues, and provide professional support to them
  • To work towards assisting with simple ad-hoc costing exercises and investigations as required
  • Once trained, to raise invoices and purchase orders and responding to invoice queries, escalating where appropriate
