Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Breast Screening Programme Manager to join our multi-disciplinary team at Cambridge Breast Unit and Cambridgeshire and Huntingdon Breast Screening Service.

The Breast Screening Programme Manager has responsibility for the non-clinical operational running of all aspects of the local breast screening service. The Programme Manager works closely with the Director of Breast Screening, Imaging Service Lead and the Administration manager. The Breast Screening Programme Manager may be the first point of contact for NHS England (NHSE) (programme and SQAS teams) and local commissioning teams, ensuring that the service provided to our patients is of high-quality.

Main duties of the job

Providing screening service leadership in the routine QA visits which include making sure all required staff and facilities are available.

Attend regional role specific meetings facilitated by SQAS to make sure best practice is cascaded to the service.

Liaise with the Director of Breast screening on matters raised by stakeholders including commissioners, SQAS or the Trust management team.

Monitoring and authorising expenditure against a controlled admin budget in conjunction with the Imaging Service Lead.

Ensure the maintenance of facilities and equipment is fit for purpose and meets NHSBSP standards including mobile screening services and at all stakeholder Trusts in the screening pathway.

Liaise with the core screening management team (Director of screening, Imaging Service Lead and Office manager) to ensure there is a workforce plan to maintain a sustainable service. This is taking into account changes in the eligible population or where there are difficulties in the recruitment of appropriately qualified healthcare staff.

Develop a knowledge and understanding of the consolidated (national) standards for breast screening.

Participate in the investigation of complaints and incidents relating to the service, and where necessary, report to SQAS according to screening guidance and implement identified corrective procedures.
