Job summary

Due to retirement of the current postholder, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to take on the technical leadership of our friendly team.

We currently manage a diverse portfolio of ~300 studies, including ATIMPs and other novel therapies. You will use your expertise to ensure our service remains compliant with regulatory frameworks and prepared for expansion, including for the national vaccines and immunotherapies research programme and future opening of the Cambridge Cancer Research and Children's Hospitals.

The role will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of cross-functional co-operation and knowledge-sharing. An open and imaginative approach to solving problems, combined with excellent organisational skills and the ability to work at a high level of accuracy, is essential. Additionally you should possess strong computer skills and experience with reporting and analyzing data will be beneficial.

Main duties of the job

  1. Lead, develop and deliver the technical elements of the pharmacy clinical trials service. Have oversight and management of the department's facilities, equipment and capacity to ensure on going ability to support research activities including CTIMPS, non-CTIMPS and ATIMPs.
  2. Help set the strategic direction of the pharmacy clinical trial service
  3. Ensure all standard operating procedures for the pharmacy clinical trials service reflect current practice, are maintained and updated as appropriate in line with local governance requirements, UK regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements, and are implemented
  4. Provide professional leadership for pharmacy clinical trials technical staff
  5. Ensure that activities involved in the provision of clinical trial services receive appropriate remuneration
  6. Develop and maintain IT systems to report monthly and annually on clinical trials activities.
  7. Co-ordinate governance activities for the clinical trials team.
  8. Lead training on technical aspects of the clinical trials service.
  9. Develop and maintain regular communication and action plans with technical staff from different pharmacy teams of relevance to clinical trials; ensure that the patient experience is a primary focus of all technical and support staff.
  10. Support externally contracted manufacturing services required for CUH-sponsored research.

  • Post graduate/Masters level qualifications in management or a portfolio demonstrating equivalent experience and relevant short courses
