Specialist Midwife for Tokophobia and Birth Trauma

Job summary

There is an opportunity for a midwife with a keen interest in birth trauma and Tokophobia to join the current post holder in a job share.

You will be responsible for leading the tokophobia and birth trauma service; giving health advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff including outside agencies. Including the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students. You will work closely with the Trust's safeguarding professionals in supporting all activities to ensure the Trust meet its statutory responsibilities to support mothers with tokophobia and birth trauma.

As part of the role you will attend one to one clinical supervision, to attend monthly reflective group practice sessions alongside maternity colleagues.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for leading the tokophobia and birth trauma service; giving health advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff including outside agencies. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students

To line manage the B6 birth trauma midwives, and support their work in their absence.

Undertake and lead clinical audits in own specialist area. Participate in preparation of workforce activity reports for the Trust

To work closely with the Trust's safeguarding professionals in supporting all activities to ensure the Trust meet its statutory responsibilities to support mothers with tokophobia and birth trauma

To respond to complaints and feedback relating to the tokophobia and birth trauma service.

To attend regular one to one clinical supervision with the Clinical Psychologist for maternity Services

In addition to attending one to one clinical supervision, to attend monthly reflective group practice sessions alongside maternity colleagues

  • Registered Midwife
  • Up to date professional portfolio demonstrating on-going professional development
  • Safeguarding training levels 1,2,& 3
  • Diploma/Degree in Midwifery/ evidence of further education

Desirable

  • Recognised qualification in counselling skills
  • Recognised qualification of resolving birth trauma
  • Recognised qualification of relaxation techniques teaching
