Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow (Higher) ST3-5 in Occupational Health Medicine for a period of six months, starting from February 2024.
The duties of the post include outpatient clinics for various occupational health referrals and providing medical support to the nursing team.
Main duties of the job
OH Occupational Health and Wellbeing (formally Cambridge Health at Work) is a regional focal point of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, providing services to the Trust and organization's on the hospital campus, as well to local industries, businesses and organization's.
In order to be considered applicants must meet the following essential criteria, have a completed at least the required initial training in one of the following specialties:
surgery, psychiatry, acute medicine (2 years), general practice (3 years), public health (Phase 1), anesthetics or ACCS (anesthetics), radiology and peadiatrics. Please see the person specification for more details.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). The University of Cambridge Occupational Health Service provides a service to the University of Cambridge and the Clinical School at a separate location. There are close links between the two services and occupational physicians work in both departments.
The department is located on the perimeter of the Addenbrookes site at the site of 30 Long Road. The University service is situated in central Cambridge about a mile from the Addenbrookes Hospital site.
There is a team of qualified occupational health physicians, trainee occupational health physicians, nurse advisers and trainee nurse advisers together with administrative support staff.
We also provide OH services to Royal Papworth Hospital.
This clinical fellow (St3+ equivalent) post is a temporary role to provide additional medical support to the occupational team and covers current maternity leave. The impact of Covid 19 on the NHS workforce increased activities in occupational health with various referrals relating to sickness absence, skin problems, psychological ill health, etc. The role will be predominantly undertaking outpatient clinics by telephone consultation, video consultation and face to face appointments following referral to Occupational Health. The post is fixed term for six months.
The department is open 08.30 hrs 16.30 hrs Monday to Friday and provides comprehensive OH service during this time. There is no out of hours work.
