Job summary

The role of a senior Epic analyst will oversee a team of Epic analysts who support and work to improve the Epic electronic patient record (EPR) as well as provide technical guidance.

The senior Epic analyst will be required to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience. In particular they will need to develop and deliver complex technical and process concepts to large groups of internal and external senior clinical and management staff.

Senior Epic analysts will work with operational and clinical staff to develop training and local support strategies to enable staff to realise the benefits from Epic

Main duties of the job

  • Manage a team of Epic analysts ensuring that their work conforms to the design integrity for the module
  • Responsible for day to day management, including recruitment, appraisal, discipline, training and delivery of specialist technical training programmes in the Epic module(s)
  • Act as authorised signatory for team purchases, monitor the team budget and contribute to the formulation of the departmental budget
  • Work closely with the Design Authority to ensure integrity of the system across multiple modules;
  • Undertake project planning and develop strategies for the individual Epic modules, the wider Epic application
  • Take responsibility for integrated areas and integrated testing
  • Responsible for the design and development of a new to NHS, Trust-wide information technology system and for implementing directly broad changes to clinical and administrative practices and policies across the hospital affecting all clinical staff at every grade
  • Communicate regularly with relevant Trust staff to ensure that the application(s) meets their service delivery and business needs in line with new and agreed best practice processes
  • Provide specialist advice to Trust staff or colleagues on the capabilities and optimisation potential of the Epic system
  • Arrange, co-ordinate and lead meetings between senior Trust staff and/or your colleagues to discuss workflows and/or areas of concern and/or take notes of any action points
