Job summary
We are looking for a Diabetes Specialist Dietitian to work as a highly specialised Diabetes Educator covering a range of duties within our flagship diabetes service under the Wolfson Diabetes and Endocrine Clinic (WDEC). These duties will include inpatient work within our award winning Diabetes Outreach Team (DOT) and support the various outpatient clinics we cover for our patients with Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3c diabetes.
Many of the patients we support are using diabetes technology including insulin pumps (many hybrid closed loop pumps) and continuous glucose monitoring devices so working with this technology will be an integral part of this role. CUH is an established DAFNE centre so working as (preferable) or towards becoming a pump and DAFNE educator will be essential.
There is an opportunity to participate in relevant research, audit and development projects and contribute within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Main duties of the job
Inpatient and outpatient work including Diabetes Outreach Team (DOT) and diabetes educator support of Type 1 diabetes specialist clinics, including general Type 1 clinic, insulin pump clinics (insulin pump starts, upgrades and routine follow ups), Intensive Insulin Management Clinic (IIMC), diabtel and eConsult services.
To signpost and refer appropriately to the DAFNE course and become a DAFNE and insulin pump educator.
Advise the medical teams on medication changes that will influence nutritional status and diabetes management.
To work within a multi professional framework and contribute to a first class service through evidence based clinical practice, management, education, research and audit.
To set and work toward individual and team objectives that reflect corporate plans and work within the clinical governance framework.
