Job summary

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen within our friendly Infection Control Nursing team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic individual to assist the Clinical Nurse Specialists in the prevention, surveillance, investigation and control of infection within Cambridge University NHS Trust.

You will provide support and education to staff at ward level and within the corporate framework for the delivery of infection prevention and control.

Main duties of the job

To liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team in matters relating to infection control.

Under supervision, perform patient assessment, plan and deliver high standards of infection prevention and control in accordance with best practice principles.

Responsible for supervised delivery of advice to patients, relatives and staff in matters relating to infection control with minimal supervision from Infection Control Team.

Work in collaboration with other members of the Infection Control Team (ICT) in planning activities of the team.

To identify areas, procedures and patients who present a particular risk of infection.

Participate in the investigations and control of outbreaks.

To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

To adhere to the policies and procedures of Cambridge University NHS Trust.

Maintain accurate, clear, concise, legible and timely documentation adhering to standards in accordance with appropriate professional regulatory body and Trust policies.

Support performance improvements activities i.e. data collection/audit activities to demonstrate effectiveness of the service.

To carry out duties with due regard to the Trust's equal opportunities policy.

To be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Coordinate clinical and support services relevant to specialty.
