Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST6+/Snr) in Urology (Robotic Prostatectomy) to commence from 17 November 2023 until 30 September 2024 at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This post has gained Royal College of Surgeons of England accreditation.

Addenbrooke's Hospital has one of the longest established robotic programmes in the UK. It is also one of the highest volume robotic surgical centres and has been undertaking robotic training for over 10 years.

The purpose of the post is to provide Peri/Post CCT training and competencies in robotic prostatectomy surgery and experience in subspecialist clinics.

The Urology department consists of 21 Urology Consultants, including 3 Academic Consultants. The Department centralises provision of Urological oncology care including bladder, prostate, kidney and testicular cancers to a large part of the East Anglian Region in addition to fulfilling its District Hospital functions.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will participate in a middle grade, non-resident 1 in 9 on-call rota.

In order to be considered applicants must meet the essential criteria outlined in the person specification and have:

  • MRCS or equivalent qualification.
  • FRCS (Urol/FEBU) or equivalent.
  • Completed a minimum of four years Specialty Registrar or equivalent training in Urology in the UK or equivalent.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013).
