Job summary

Are you a registered children's nurse looking for a new opportunity in a busy Paediatric Emergency Department?

Cambridge University Hospitals are looking to recruit highly motivated nurses with excellent clinical knowledge, communication and leadership skills to join our Paediatric Emergency Department.

We care for approximately 29,000 children and young people a year, delivering all aspects of emergency care.

You will be a flexible, enthusiastic and passionate individual who is committed to delivering high quality care to the children, young people and their families that attend the Paediatric Emergency Department.

Main duties of the job

To provide skilled nursing care within a multidisciplinary environment,to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Essential

  • 1st Level Nurse - Part 8 or Part 15

Desirable

  • 1 Advanced level child protection training 2 Evidence of continuing professional development 3 Relevant teaching and assessing course/ mentorship course 4. EPLS/APLS

Experience

Essential

  • 1. Post registration experience working in emergency care or with acutely ill children 2. Experience of delivering evidenced based nursing care without supervision, to children in an acute hospital setting

Desirable

  • ward experience/ critical care experience

Knowledge

Essential

  • 1. Child Protection 2. Child Law i.e. consent 3. Working knowledge of The Children Act 4. Competent to care for children and their families in a safe and effective manner without direct supervision 5. Advocate of paediatric nursing

  • 1. Nursing assessment skills 2. Good communication skills 3. Awareness of professional issues 4. Evidence of up to date paediatric nursing skills and knowledge
