Job summary

CUH Pathology is a large department providing both specialist and general laboratory services for the population of Cambridgeshire and the East of England. Services provided include Haemato-oncology Diagnostic Service (HODS), Immunology, Tissue Typing, Blood Transfusion, Blood Sciences, Endocrinology, Biochemical Genetics, Specialist Haemostasis, New-born Screening, Histopathology, Mortuary and Point of Care. There are also 2 Research & Development (R&D) functions: Tissue Bank and Core Biochemical Assays Laboratory (CBAL). Pathology sits within Division B, one of five Clinical Divisions operating within Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Business and Contracts Manager, who as part of the Pathology senior team will oversee the delivery of strategic business objectives, service improvements and R&D activity. The post holder will be responsible for negotiation of contracts for the provision of pathology services across the Trust, acting as CUH contract representative with key partner organisations, and will lead responses to tender opportunities for new external work for Pathology services.

You should have financial, commercial and leadership experience at a senior level in a complex organisation, ideally in a regulatory environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver laboratory based strategic business and service developments in the healthcare sector, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders: executive teams, clinical and non-clinical colleagues, and our service users who are core to everything we do.

  • Leadership/management qualification, e.g. MBA.
  • Financial qualification (ICAEW/CIMA) or significant experience gained via commercial organisation.
  • Educated to postgraduate degree level or equivalent experience of working at a senior level in a specialist area.
