Job summary

Are you interested in working in research? We have an exciting opportunity for a sample handling coordinator to work in our specialist research unit supporting commercial and non- commercial studies, in a variety of disease specialities such as COVID, oncology / haematology, rheumatology, renal or vasculitis. You will have an essential role in liaising across the unit with the clinical teams to provide them support in processing research blood samples on day-to day basis and will be responsible for all CCRC sample handling equipment maintenance.

Main duties of the job

Assist in the collection, processing, storage and shipment of biological samples according to the specific protocol instructions.

Liaise with CCRC staff and research teams using our facilities for all aspects of trial sample collection. Liaise with the Biosample Practitioner to determine day to day tasks and responsibilities.

Maintain stocks of consumables and trials kits required in all CCRC sample handling rooms.

  • GCSE English and Maths plus A level Science or equivalent

  • Biological degree or equivalent

Experience

  • Practical laboratory experience including manual blood sample processing and record keeping

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working with Dry Ice/ liquid nitrogen
  • Healthcare experience

Knowledge

  • Good science background
  • Good IT skills and a knowledge of the MS Office suite
  • Awareness of GCP HTA
