Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse

Job summary

This highly specialized field needs to have a compassionate, committed and autonomous practitioner who has excellent communication skills, is a team player and works well under pressure. You will have the competency to work in the Cardiac Cath lab and have a desire to learn and be adaptable to the changing needs of this patient group.

Ward K2 functions as cardiology diagnostic area but is also used as a Trust contingency areas for next day discharges.

You will work closely alongside the Consultant Cardiologist to develop this post into the key role needed for the Trust.

Main duties of the job

To lead and manage the individual clinical ward/unit with 24 hour responsibility, acting as an expert practitioner and role model to the whole team.

To create, direct and co-ordinate a therapeutic departmental environment conducive to health improvement.

To ensure the delivery of a patient - centred, clinically effective service in line with the corporate nursing and midwifery agenda.

To manage resources effectively including finance, multidisciplinary team members and quality standards, adjusting resources to clinical need.

To liaise with all health professionals and support staff to ensure patients receive the best service possible.

To work in partnership with other senior nurses and line manager to contribute to the development of the department and service requirements.
