Come and join our busy Pathology Specimen Reception in Cambridge. We are recruiting for Specimen Processing Administrators to work in the pre-analytical area for the Blood Sciences department as part of The Pathology Partnership - one of the largest and leading pathology providers in the country.
The Specimen Reception is responsible for handling the full range of pre & post analytical services for Blood Sciences. This includes but is not limited to sorting, quality assuring, booking and transporting patient samples for onward testing. The role requires considerable PC work inputting patient and testing data to the Hospital system. It is a fast paced environment with a demand for accuracy and efficiency of data input.
No experience or specific scientific qualifications are necessary with full on the job training provided. This role is a vital part of the pathology team providing a service to the hospital and community alike. It is well suited to candidates qualified at GCSE level with experience working in a data entry or customer service role.

Main duties of the job
This position is not based in an analytical laboratory and whilst requires sample handling is focused on the administrative side of this process and will be majority data input of patient testing data into Hospital laboratory systems.
All positions are on a 24hr contract and every staff member in the department can be expected to work on a shift rota consisting of a variety of all the shift types listed below:
- Early day: 08:00 - 16:00
- Core day: 10:00 - 18:00
- Core day: 11:00 - 19:00
- Late day: 12:00 - 20:00
- Late day: 13:00 - 21:00
- Twilight shifts 14:00 - 22:00
- Night shift: 20:00 - 08:00
- Weekend/Bank holiday day: 08:00 - 20:00
