Job summary

This is an exciting time to work in strategy at CUH - we are a dynamic organisation with strong ambitions for our local, regional and national role in delivering healthcare, research and education.

Locally, we are investing in our integrated care system, and exploring how we can redesign pathways of care to deliver more preventative care, in partnership with community and primary care. Regionally, we are leading work to develop specialised services across the region and building new regional Children's and Cancer hospitals. Nationally, we are the largest centre of health science and medical research in Europe, and are ambitious about developing cross-industry partnerships, fostering innovation and research which can improve outcomes for our patients.

Our team members have a wide range of skills and backgrounds - from operational management to management consultancy to central government policy - and our culture is one which strongly prioritises personal development. We work flexibly, in a matrix style, to maximise opportunities for team members to get experience in areas they are interested in, within strategy and beyond.

We welcome applicants with a wide range of experience within and outside of the NHS - including in the private and wider public sector. We will also consider a range of working models, including secondments. We strongly encourage you to get in touch with the recruitment manager prior to submitting your application to discuss the role further.

Main duties of the job

The Strategy and Major Projects team leads on cross-cutting, medium- and long-term initiatives with the potential for significant impact on patients and staff at CUH and across the East of England.

Recent and current areas of work within Strategy include:

  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to refresh our organisational strategy
  • Supporting the implementation of the CUH strategy, including communicating the strategy to staff and patients; ensuring we put in place the right resourcing and capabilities to deliver on the strategy; and leading Board engagement on the biggest opportunities for strategic transformation
  • Developing our strategic approach to integrated care and interface with our ICS
  • Leading strategic analysis on our approach to fostering innovation
  • Leading the development of a specialised services provider collaborative across the East of England.

Your role will involve working on the Trust's most important strategic projects, in collaboration with clinical and operational leaders, as well as other corporate teams across the trust. You will work closely with our executive leadership team and Board, as well as stakeholders across the system - such as colleagues from the ICS, other providers in the region, and NHSE regional and national teams.
