Job summary
A position has opened in the the Band 6 team within the Oncology Day Unit. We are looking for a motivated Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team on a permanent basis.
This is a busy unit, with 17 treatment chairs, open from 8-8 weekdays and 8-4 on Saturdays delivering chemotherapy, immunotherapy and various supportive measures to patients who are receiving treatment for cancer.
There will be education opportunities to build knowledge and skills, and you will also have the opportunity to hold link roles.
Main duties of the job
You will assist the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the overall management of the ward; ensure patients are provided with a safe, individualised, holistic and evidence based care and provide leadership to all members of the ward, promoting effective teamwork.
This will include co-ordinating the day unit when nurse in charge, or working as part of a team in the treatment area. Link nurse roles and some management tasks to assist the senior sister will be part of this role.
This post involves working day shifts in the following patterns: Day Shift 07:30-18:00 or Long Days 07:30-20:00
You will also be required to hold a divisional bleep.
Experience in looking after oncology patients and SACT competency is essential.
