Job summary

The commercial vision of the Trust is to develop and exploit commercial opportunities which are aligned with the overall strategic direction of the organisation and support the core objective of delivering high quality clinical services to our patients. As part of this vision the Trust has established Cambridge IVF as a business unit within Division E, delivering self-pay and NHS andrology, fertility and IVF services to patients across the region.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual who will provide leadership to the clinical, scientific, nursing and administrative staff, enabling Cambridge IVF to become profitable on a recurring basis and in parallel one of the best units in the UK for successful pregnancy rates.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a successful track record either through extensive IVF experience in the NHS and/or private sector. You will need to have a strong scientific understanding, outstanding business acumen, the ability to challenge traditional ways of working, sound financial skills, effective leadership qualities and be a good communicator.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is implementing an ambitious commercial agenda, of which Cambridge IVF is an important component. The successful candidate will play an essential role in the continued development and expansion of Cambridge IVF.

Main duties of the job

Works closely with clinical and scientific colleagues to ensure Cambridge IVF is at the forefront of IVF in the UK and is underpinned by all appropriate structures (scientific, educational, quality and managerial) to maintain that position.

Responsible for the overall operational direction and management of Cambridge IVF.

Responsible for developing and delivering the strategy of Cambridge IVF Manages the activity of Cambridge IVF to ensure all services are delivered in accordance with appropriate standards, including compliance with HFEA regulations.

Responsible for setting the budget and monitoring financial performance of Cambridge IVF.

Represents Cambridge IVF at relevant external meetings.

Represents Cambridge IVF at the Divisional Board and at corporate level.

Workforce planning of Cambridge IVF to ensure sufficient staffing at the right skill level to deliver the service.

Ensures Cambridge IVF has, or has access to appropriate technologies with sufficient capacity to meet service needs.
