Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for competently providing safe and effective care to children requiring hospitalisation, with minimal supervision by a more experienced registered nurse.

Assess care needs, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care.

To participate in the supervision and teaching of unqualified and qualified staff, including basic and/or post basic students.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Please see below the areas we are currently recruiting for:

Ward D2 - Provides medical, surgical and acute mental health care for children predominantly ages 3-16 years. The area specialises in Orthopaedic, Cleft Lip and Palate, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Urology, Bowel and General Surgery, also respiratory and gastroenterology. 22 bedded ward.

Ward C2 - Provides care for all Paediatric Oncology and Haematology patients. Regional Paediatric Oncology and Haematology centre for eastern region. Also admits paediatric medical patients with conditions such as asthma and diabetes. 17 bedded ward.

PDU Paediatric Day Unit Clinic Area for Paediatric Oncology and Haematology patients throughout the Eastern region. 6 bedded recovery area following procedures and also day case Chemotherapy. Open Mon- Fri.

Ward F3 - F3 provides theatre admissions services, pre-admission clinics and ambulatory care to a wide variety of patients. F3 also has a 6 bedded overnight facility from Monday morning to Saturday evening.

Charles Wolfson Ward - Provides care for babies up to 6 weeks of age , with conditions such as jaundice, sepsis and poor feeding. Accepts admissions/transfers from NICU, as well as emergency admissions. 12 bedded ward.

PICU/HDU - Provides care to all children aged 0-16 years requiring intensive or high dependency treatment. CUH provides a regional trauma /neurosurgical service for the eastern region. 13 beds in total for PICU and HDU.

Clinic 6 - Paediatric outpatient department that reviews all children in follow up clinics from most specialities

NICU - The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is part of the East of England Neonatal operational delivery network. 40 cots designated as 12 ITU, 16 HDU and 12 SCBU. The unit admits sick new-born babies which includes prematurity, surgical, neuro-critical care and neurosurgery.

Ward C3 12 bedded ward providing care for all children up to their third birthday with general medical and surgical conditions. Specialising in babies/toddlers with long term complex conditions and transfers from NICU.
