Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Practice Development Team for a 6 month role. You will support our band 5s and MSWs and will participate in a number of key national projects within practice development.

As a clinically credible midwife, you will work with both our UK and internationally trained midwives in practice, helping them to transition their skills and experience and adapt to working as a band 5 midwife in the UK.

In addition to this, you will also deliver training, ensure competencies are met and participate in projects such as the new national preceptorship framework, MSW transformation project and CNST. This will involve engaging with relevant stakeholders including the MDT team and the main Trust education team.

We are a Trust that supports professional development and this position will give you the opportunity to implement new and innovative ways of working to support new recruits.

Main duties of the job

Some of the main duties of this job will include:

  • Supporting new band 5 midwives and ensuring that they are orientated to the Rosie
  • Creating an individualised plan for each midwife, recognising their strengths and where they may need further support
  • Maintaining visibility in the ward areas to ensure that midwives are supported in practice
  • Working alongside them on a shift to support with clinical practice
  • Supporting with teaching clinical skills and supporting with assessments
  • Facilitating training sessions including obstetric emergencies or skills teaching and preceptorship day
  • Working closely with ward managers and matrons to ensure that we are supporting our new midwives
