Job summary
We are seeking an experienced midwife with expert clinical and leadership experience to fill fixed term and substantive positions as a Senior Midwife in the Delivery Unit.
You will have responsibility for the day to day clinical leadership and standards of midwifery services, including all staff groups, students and visitors within the Delivery Unit and have responsibility for the management and coordination of these teams.
You will demonstrate effective and compassionate leadership skills to support staff to provide kind, safe, personalised care based on current research. You will organise others in their actions and set priorities, objectives and goals within their sphere of responsibility.
You will participate in multidisciplinary team ward rounds on Delivery Unit and daily perinatal liaison meetings taking into account the theatre schedule and booked inductions of labour for prospective twenty four hours.
You will work in collaboration with the Matron for Delivery Unit, the inpatient maternity ward managers, the senior management team and clinical leads to ensure high standards of quality care provision on the Delivery Unit and will assist in taking the quality and improvement agenda forward within the department.
You will be highly visible, approachable and committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes while supporting staff from a clinical and non-clinical perspective.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the day to day running of the service, providing effective and dynamic clinical leadership and support to all midwives, support staff and students working on Delivery Unit while proactively seeking to develop the service and promote and improve high standards of care. Support with day to day operational management of the maternity unit.
Support and develop the team on the Delivery unit to ensure an effective learning environment, work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective working relationships .
Actively contribute to the strategic development of the services to meet both the present and future provision of maternity services in line with the Trust, Regional and National objectives.
Assist in the development of the professional midwifery agenda to achieve high standards of care and innovation with a strong focus on kind, safe and personalised care.
Demonstrate innovation through the maintenance of a quality approach to service provision by monitoring and evaluating standards of care and ensuring quality targets and KPIs are met within Delivery Unit.
Ensure resources and equipment are managed, checked and maintained appropriately through the development and monitoring of effective systems.
