Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated nurse with excellent organisational & interpersonal skills to become an active member of the Skin Cancer specialist nursing team working across Oncology, Dermatology & Plastic Surgery.
You will participate in the provision of high-quality care to new and follow up patients diagnosed with a skin cancer; supporting them and their families at all points along the pathway of care from diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and end of life. This will include working independently and alongside members of the nursing and medical team in clinics across specialities.
You will actively participate with all aspects of the multidisciplinary team, adapting the service as required and supporting service development. The ideal candidate will have oncology experience as we seek to expand our provision of care to those patients receiving treatment in both the adjuvant and metastatic setting.
This post will be a 2 years Secondment/Fixed term contract.
Main duties of the job
To work in collaboration with the Multi-Disciplinary Team, (MDT), to provide specialist nursing knowledge and expertise to ensure the highest standard of personalised nursing care is delivered to patients with a diagnosed skin malignancy and their carers.
By working across organizational boundaries the post holder will help co-ordinate service provision to this patient group and act as a link by maintaining ongoing contact with both patients and their families in in-patient and out-patient settings, acting as the patient's keyworker.
The post holder will act as a resource for other members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team on an ad hoc and Planned basis, providing Specialist education and training programmes for health care professionals and other professional groups.
They will also be responsible for the promotion of public health in various contexts whether it be as part of national or locally driven initiatives.
