About the RoleThis hands-on role offers a wide range of tasks, from general repairs and basic fault finding to gardening and decorating. You'll help keep buildings compliant, functional, and comfortable, working closely with the Estates team in a supportive environment.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic fault finding
  • Support planned preventative maintenance
  • Assist with gardening, decorating, and general upkeep
  • Help maintain plant equipment (training provided)
  • Carry out basic testing and monitoring tasks
  • Support tradespeople with minor works
  • Respond to maintenance issues and emergencies
  • Follow safety and compliance standard

  • NVQ level 2 in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline
  • Basic skills in literacy and numeracy

Desirable

  • NVQ level 3 in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline
  • BAFE certified Fire Equipment Maintenance qualification
  • Water Quality Management certified

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in an engineering and/or building maintenance role
  • Maintenance background and skills to carry out minor mechanical / electrical and building repairs

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an acute hospital environment
  • Grounds knowledge/ experience
