Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (37.5 hours) Band 3 (2 whilst training) Nursing Assistant to join our Outpatients team sitting under the umbrella of Clinical Support to provide 12 months maternity cover. You will be assisting Dr`s and specialist nursing teams with the smooth running of the Outpatient clinics. We are looking for dynamic and highly motivated individuals to join a team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff members who strive to deliver care of the highest quality
Main duties of the job
The Outpatients department can offer opportunities to learn and develop skills in a wide range of different medical and surgical specialities. The successful candidate will need to have good communication skills with a flexible approach to working.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a drive to promote a high standard of care for our patients. This post covers our West Suffolk Hospital site as well as clinics in our satellite sites at Thetford, Haverhill, Newmarket and Sudbury.

Education and qualifications
Essential
- Holds National Care Certificate or be willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks or starting
Desirable
- Functional skills level 1 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent
- Previous experience of being a Health Care Support Worker in outpatients.
Experience and knowledge
Essential
- Experience working in a healthcare, social care organisation/setting or service industry requiring people contact.
- Ability to work with staff from a diverse range of backgrounds
Desirable
- Experience of working within a health care environment.
- To demonstrate a range of procedures and practices, base level of theoretical knowledge
- Demonstrate through previous experience the ability to escalate concerns
- Ability to work in a multi-agency team
- Ability to work alone or in small team
Skills and abilities

- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Effective use of electronic solutions to support the delivery of patient care.
