An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Advisor to join the Trust's Risk Office Team. The Risk Office provides high quality expertise and support to all services and specialities across the Trust. The primary responsibility of the post holder will be to support the Trust in meeting its legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. This includes covering multiple sites as required within the Trust's contract for both acute and community services.
Ideally with a health and safety background you should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of governance principles within the NHS, including health, safety and risk management. Excellent verbal and written communication will be essential, together with organisational skills and the ability to effectively use information.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, looking to develop both their skills as a health and safety advisor and their wider risk management knowledge.
Main duties of the job
You will help support the Health, Safety and Risk Manager in the delivery of the Trust's risk management programme.
This will involve working on all aspects of risk assessment and COSHH including training, advising, monitoring and maintaining the Trust's Risk assessment repository and risk register and COSHH database.
You will need to develop strong and supportive relationships with staff at all levels within the Trust

Essential
- Health and Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Certificate / Diploma) or relevant qualification accompanied by significant experience of working in a health and safety role.
- Minimum teaching qualification such as CIEH Train the Trainer, or willing to work towards
- Management knowledge or experience
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable
- Experience of working in the NHS / health care

- Knowledge of health & safety policies, procedures and practices; acquired through specialist training in health & safety and management plus significant experience in the health & safety industry
