Senior Children's Community Nurse

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen togain experience in the Community Children's Nursing Team who provide high quality evidence-based practice in the community, to children who have a clinical nursing need.

Band 6 role.

The team provides a 7-day service, 08.00-18.00 weekdays and 09.00-17.00 at weekends/bank holidays.

The successful candidate will need to be a good team player, hold a full driving licence and their own vehicle, and be prepared to travel throughout the West Suffolk area.

The post would be fixed term for a year from March 2026 -March 2027 covering maternity leave and isbased in the Bury St Edmundsoffice.

Full and part-time positions will be considered.

Main duties are to oversee acaseload and provide clinicalnursing care to children in the community including administering IVAB's, NG support, Wound care, Injections, Central line care etc.

Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE:

To work within the framework of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct.

To undertake on-going training required to be clinically competent in caring for children with both complex/chronic and acute health care needs and their family.

Proactively participate in the creation of a dynamic flexible and responsive environment through effective communication and contribution of ideas.

Planning, implementation and evaluation of holistic programmes of care.

Educate the child, parents and carers in the promotion of health and the prevention of ill health.

Demonstrate and teach clinical procedures to parents/carers to enable them to contribute to the planned programme of care. To alleviate potential stress, and to prevent inappropriate admissions to hospital.

Be responsible for the day-to-day clinical management of the service including delegating tasks, supervising junior staff and ensuring patient safety.

Ensure the needs of children/young people and parents/carers are met at all times.

Create an environment which recognises parents/carers as key members of a care package and is sensitive and responsive to their needs, allowing for the development of their unique relationship with their child/young person.
