Job summary
To perform work of a routine and minor complex nature, responsible for fault finding as delegated, repairs and specialist routine planned maintenance activities to include general maintenance, gardening and decorating tasks and as directed by management to ensure compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.
This post is primarily based at Newmarket Hospital and will cover the Trusts communities sites.
The role holder will report daily to the Estates Buildings Officer (Communities).
Main duties of the job
At all times to carry Trust communication devices (two way radio, mobile phone) to facilitate immediate response to emergencies
To liaise with management regarding plant equipment and to request the supply of goods and/or services as necessary
Immediately notify management of any deviation from regulations
Complete all report sheets as and when necessary
To work in accordance with the requirements of the Trust on sampling, testing low pressure water systems and steam raising plant performing various tasks
To undertake boiler house duties and regular testing as required on LPHW and steam raising boiler plants in accordance with relevant codes of practice and pressure regulations and the checking of water softeners adding salt as required.
To participate in a weekend rota for carrying out steam boiler plant testing of safety systems .
To assist maintenance craftsmen in minor works of other trades in the engineering department adopting flexible and adaptable role in that context
To carry out basic maintenance duties on steam boiler plant, after appropriate training, as directed
To carry out basic maintenance and cleaning duties of various electrical and mechanical plant in particular lamp replacement, light cleaning, grilles and diffuser cleaning of ventilation systems
