MRI Imaging Assistant

Job summary

We are pleased to be able to offer exciting opportunities for conscientious, hard-working, caring individuals to join our MRI team as an Imaging assistant.

We currently have 2 MRI scanners at the West Suffolk site and a further scanner at our Newmarket CDC site which we are aiming to operate 08:00 - 20:00 scanning 7 days per week. This post is funded from the CDC and expectation is to work across sites and will include extended days and weekend working. This post is for 2 long days per week.

We are looking for individuals who are keen to learn and enjoy working with people. Need excellent communication skills, to demonstrate initiative as well as care and empathy towards our often-anxious patients. Your role will be key to efficient service delivery and patient experience. Wellbeing is a priority for our staff and staff are highly valued across the team.

Main duties of the job

Imaging assistants will be responsible for providing a range of personal care needs to patients and for carrying out a range of clinical duties under the direction and supervision of a registered healthcare professional.

Such tasks may include:

Assisting radiographers working in the clinical area

Welcoming patients and preparing them for their scans. This will include performing the initial MRI safety checks with the patients.

Preparing the scanner, organisation, cleaning and preparation of equipment.

Supporting patients before during and after their scans making a positive difference to their experience in the MRI department.

Stock control.

Administrative and clerical roles associated with our various IT

The Trust offers an induction programme to help you achieve your care certificate which you will be required to complete to fulfil this role and we will endeavour to help support and develop individual's knowledge and skills in this exciting and challenging role.

Essential

  • oGood level of written language and IT skills
  • oNVQ level 3 or equivalent or has equivalent clinical experience.
  • oEvidence of ongoing CPD
  • oCare Certificate or commitment to undertaking and achieving the Care Certificate within initial twelve weeks.

Desirable

  • oPrevious experience of being an Imaging Assistant or Health Care Support Worker
  • oGCSE English Language and Maths A to C or 4 -9 or functional skills or equivalent
