Job summary
The Macmillan Unit (Ward G1) is a 12 bedded inpatient ward, a chemotherapy day unit, a mobile cancer care unit and a busy patient clinic department. We specialise in the care and treatment of patients with oncological and haematological conditions through all stages of their illness. We provide staff with many opportunities to gain new knowledge and skills, including Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT), supported by our senior nursing team and by working closely with the multidisciplinary team, including site specific Clinical Nurse Specialists and the Acute Oncology Service.
Main duties of the job
Staff Nurses are responsible for the delivery of care and the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of individual programmes of care. They are expected to take delegated responsibility in a given shift for a group of patients. With experience, they may be expected to take charge of the ward/department regularly in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse.
