Job summary

The post holder will undertake a range of clinical and administrative duties commensurate with a band 5 Audiologist, assisting in the provision of an effective audiology service on all West Suffolk Hospital Trust sites.

Main duties of the job

To have autonomous responsibility for both routine patients referred to the Department by the Direct GP Access route. This responsibility includes comprehensive assessment of the patient's hearing difficulties, physical examination of the ears, full hearing assessment using appropriate techniques, diagnosis of condition, design of an appropriate treatment plan, decision regarding onward referral for medical intervention.

To work at West Suffolk Hospital site and peripheral Sites at Newmarket, Thetford, Sudbury, and other peripheral sites as required.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • BSc (Hon) Audiology or equivalent qualification enabling registration.
  • Evidence of relevant knowledge development in all areas of the advertised role.
  • Trained in Digital Hearing Aid Services

Desirable

  • Professional Membership: HCPC or RCCP

Experience

Essential

  • Adult rehabilitation

Desirable

  • Experience and training gained through attending courses.
  • Experience in using Auditbase.
  • Experience in taking stocks levels.

Skills & Abilities

  • Good communication skills and patient handling skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised on own initiative or as a part of a team.
  • Analyse results and perform relevant audiological tests.
  • Experience of maintaining patient records
  • Full range of routine Audiological tests
  • Hearing Aid selection and fitting
  • Aural rehabilitation
