Job summary
The post holder will work as an autonomous specialist nurse practitioner in the Rapid Access Chest pain clinic. Using specialized skills and knowledge to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients to facilitate early diagnosis, investigation and treatments.
This post is available for Band 6 or Band 7 pending on previous experience and qualifications. If criteria for Band 7 is not met there will be support and opportunity to progress within the role. Expectations for progressing to Band 7 would be completion of Independent Nurse prescriber course, working towards masters level programme, independently supporting the Rapid Access Chest pain clinics.
Main duties of the job
They will triage patient referrals to the Rapid Access Chest pain service these referrals are received from GP or ED, then liase with TAC to organise clinic appointments ensuring they are seen promptly within the National required time frame of 14 days.
They will request relevant tests, prescribe medications if necessary and make onward referrals. The post holder will respond to test results and communicate these to the patient, GP and other health care professionals. They will provide education and advice to ensure the patient is engaged with their treatment plan. they will work within the multidisciplinary team. Provision of an weekly MDT with Consultant Cardiologist takes place weekly.
They will be involved in the development of policies and participate in audits, clinical governacne and research.

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 18:30.
For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.
This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete on call duties within their role.
