Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual with relevant skills , knowledge and experience to join the Financial Planning team within the Finance Directorate.

The Financial Planning team is responsible for the monitoring, forecasting and reporting of Trust income and financial costing, providing Trust income reporting to external NHS commissioners and providing financial information, advice and support to Trust managers regarding commissioning, contracting and costing and ensuring accurate collection of all income due.

The team contributes to the annual financial planning and budget setting process in addition to producing service level and patient level reporting information.

Main duties of the job

This post is part of the Financial Planning Team within the Trust.

The post holder will be part of a team providing financial management, commissioning, costing and contracting advice and support for the Trust across the Directorate structure.

The post holder will ensure that financial information is processed in accordance to specific deadlines and complies with internal procedures and accounting principles.

The post holder will perform a key role ensuring the delivery of high quality complex information in accordance with NHS guidelines and policy on NHS commissioning and costing regulations, in order to secure the Trust's Commissioner income and Financial processes.

The post holder will adopt a modern, proactive and dynamic approach to ensure the efficient and effective use of financial resources. The post holder will provide Directorates with appropriate financial performance management and business planning information relating to their income and costing activities and budgets that are integral to the achievement of the objectives and targets set by the Trust.

Essential

  • Education to degree level or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computing or other primary science subject, or specific Information- related experience

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Use of query tools and languages i.e. SQL, SSRS, Business Objects, Power BI etc.
  • Knowledge of security and principles of confidentiality
  • Advanced use of Microsoft suite of applications, especially Excel and Access

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NHS datasets
  • Familiarity with benchmarking & comparative analysis tools
  • Knowledge of Income Data Warehouse/Reporting application
  • Understanding on the NHS National Tariff Payment System
