An exciting opportunity has arisen at WSFT with the creation of a Band 7/8a Clinical Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapy Team Lead role. The children's physiotherapy team at WSFT is a small friendly team based at West Suffolk Hospital and local outreach clinics. The team is supported by outpatient therapy managers, professional lead, paediatric orthopaedic consultants, consultant paediatricians and child psychology team.
We are looking for an ambitious, motivated and forward-thinking Paediatric Physiotherapist with clinical leadership and management experience. You will be expected to lead the paediatric physiotherapy team and as an autonomous practitioner run paediatric orthopaedic and musculoskeletal clinics.
You will be up to date with evidence based practice and have specialist knowledge and experience in Paediatric Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal health.
This post is being offered as a development opportunity for the suitable candidate dependent on previous experience and qualifications.
The post will give you the opportunity to develop or extend your clinical and leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will set up and run paediatric orthopaedic normal variant clinics with support from the Paediatric Orthopaedic Consultants. You will manage a caseload, working collaboratively with the paediatric physiotherapy team and the Paediatric orthopaedic consultants.The role will require the candidate to have advanced diagnostic skills and training will be provided to suitable candidates if required.
As team lead you will be responsible for the day to day running of the paediatric physiotherapy outpatient service. There will be an element of supporting paediatric orthopaedic inpatient activity.
You will triage all outpatient referrals received by paediatric orthopaedics and paediatric physiotherapy and direct to the appropriate clinic. You will deliver training and supervision to other staff members to develop their clinical and professional skills.
You will have opportunities to initiate and implement audits and service developments as part of the Trust and wider alliance developments. Clinical supervision, continuing professional development and engagement with local networks are actively encouraged and supported.
