Job summary

King Suite is a 20 bedded, Community Assessment Bed (CAB) unit situated within Glastonbury Court Care Home in Bury St. Edmunds. About one mile away from West Suffolk Hospital.

The unit has been commissioned by West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and the service is hosted by West Suffolk Hospital.

The unit is a dynamic, nurse and therapy-led unit where you would work as part of a highly supportive multi-disciplinary team. We pride ourselves on providing compassionate holistic high quality care to all our patients, putting our patients needs and wishes at the heart of everything we do.

The housekeepers main role is to serve food and beverages to the patients, ensure all refuse and laundry bags are emptied and to complete light cleaning duties.

We are looking to recruit part-time Housekeepers to join our very friendly team on King Suite at Glastonbury Court - we have one Housekeeper every day working a 6 hour shift (7:30am - 2pm with half an hour unpaid break)

As a new member of the team you will receive a comprehensive induction supported by the established Housekeeper, caring staff, nursing team and Ward Manager

Main duties of the job

  • Collect refuse bags, place at disposal point and re-line bins.
  • Check supply of linen and liaise with Unit staff and Care UK laundry staff to arrange appropriate top up.
  • Collect bagged laundry and take to laundry; replenish trollies with clean bags.
  • Washing up as required. Cleaning cupboards are to be kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Assist with the serving and clearing of patient meals.
  • Prepare and serve hot beverages for patients.
  • Provide fresh cold water to all patients, collect and wash water jugs, beakers and replenish and redistribute.
  • To work with a flexible approach bearing in mind the needs of the patients and staff.
  • Chemicals which may be hazardous are to be kept securely in storage areas when not in use as per COSHH regulations.
  • Basic equipment must be cleaned daily and maintained in a safe usable condition - faults must be reported to a supervisor immediately.
  • Attend training courses including on the job training and training in the use of specific machinery as required.
  • Complete dietary requirements sheet and daily basic kitchen stock and liaise with Care UK kitchen
  • Close liaison with the Ward Manager in identifying additional cleaning as required.
