Job summary
Glemsford Surgery are currently
looking for a prescription administration assistant to work alongside our
Pharmacy Technician and Care-Co-ordinator. The ideal candidate will need to be
fully IT literate, have excellent written communication skills and attention to
detail. SystmOne experience is an advantage but full training will be given.
Glemsford
Surgery is a small, friendly surgery in rural Suffolk with a patient list of
approximately 4500 patients. Our staff comprises 4 salaried GPs and 4 nursing
team members, alongside a multitude of allied health professionals and practice
administration staff. We are one of a
small number of surgeries in the country that are vertically integrated with
secondary services meaning we are part of West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust
and offer NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions
Main duties of the job
Core responsibilities of the role
include:
Monitoring of repeats prescription request
emails
Monitoring of SystmOne repeat requests
Data entry for repeat prescriptions
Assisting with prescription queries
Completion of general administration relating
to prescription requests
Working closely with the Pharmacy Technician
and Care co-ordinator to assist general administration of prescription related
issues

JOB PURPOSE:
This is a key post in the provision
of prescriptive administrative and clerical support in Glemsford Surgery.
The post is an important and
integral part of the surgery and applicants must be willing and able to act on
their own initiative and organise their workload effectively to ensure an
optimum level of efficient support to the pharmacy technician and care
coordinators as well as medical staff in a timely and accurate manner.
KEY TASKS:
(may include but not limited to:)

Establishing and maintaining
administrative systems to achieve high standards of administrative practice
2.
Using computer software programmes
to enter and process repeat prescription requests
3.
Assisting the pharmacy technician
with correspondence and reports where necessary
4.
Maintaining an effective system and
actively managing the repeat prescription requests received by the surgery
5.
Contributing to the storage of
information, both paper and electronic, including the management of email
6.
Undertaking any computerised work as
required, including creating and maintenance of spreadsheets, databases, charts
and PowerPoint presentations
7.
Communicating courteously and
sensitively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
8.
Maintaining the highest standards of
confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information, including information
relating to patients or staff
9.
Prioritising own workload
10. Managing a number of tasks simultaneously, keeping track of
half completed tasks that are awaiting further information, working within an
environment of frequent interruptions, competing demands with the ability to
meet deadlines
