Could you help West Suffolk Hospital to deliver the best
quality and safest care to our local community?
Restrictive Physical Intervention (RPI) Security Team
We have an exciting opportunity to be part of our Restrictive Physical Intervention Security Team at the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
Based at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds, we are looking for
compassionate people who are good communicators and mediators, and who can stay
calm under pressure.
This responsible role is all about helping people; if you think youve
got the enthusiasm, commitment and energy to contribute to our outstanding
Trust, we want to hear from you.
Whilst experience of working in the security
industry is welcomed, it is not essential as all training will be provided
more important is your attitude and willingness to learn.
For an informal discussion please contact John Earnshaw, Security
manager on 01284 713453, or Jorge Costa, assistant security manager on 01284
713028, Jorge.costa@wsh.nhs.uk.
Main duties of the job
This is far from your usual security role; as an NHS Hospital you will be supporting us in creating an environment that is, and crucially feels, safe
for our patients, visitors and staff.
You will need to have excellent
communication skills, be able to take control of a situation with composure and
diplomacy, use trained techniques to resolve issues, and demonstrate caring and
understanding.
When we see conflict incidents you will be expected to manage and
resolve these in a safe and controlled way whether on a ward or supporting
staff with a patient on a one-to-one basis.
You will also be helping to keep our site and buildings safe. You will join regular patrols and sweeps of the site, monitor access to restricted
areas, help to keep locked areas secure and even escort members of staff back
to their cars out-of-hours on request.
