The successful
candidate will join a friendly, busy and high-performing team delivering high
quality digital communications support for West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
No two days
will be the same for our new colleague. You will be a team player, happy to
share ideas and able to work with us to create exciting, engaging content
across a range of channels, including website, intranet, email and social
media.
Main duties of the job
You will play a
key role in the team delivering important components of the Trusts digital communications
strategy, playing a critical role in helping us shape our social media and
digital activity.
We are looking
for a creative, innovative and experienced digital communications officer who
has a talent for developing eye-catching content to inform, education and
inspire our communities. You will have impressive organisational and listening
skills and be able to multi-task across a range of projects.
The successful
candidate will be someone who can engage with audiences in a range of different
ways, including video, animation and film. Youll also have experience in using
design software to develop dynamic collateral to help implement, promote and
engage audiences in key campaigns.

JOB SUMMARY:
The West Suffolk NHS Foundation
Trust (WSFT) communications team is responsible for internal and external
communications, and supports public and patient involvement. This includes
internal communications with the Trusts 3,800 staff, media relations, crisis
management, public awareness campaigns, corporate identity, design of all
corporate materials, web and intranet management, award events, videos and
public consultations.
This is a busy department
supporting an organisation that is often in the spotlight. The role will suit
someone who has the ability to develop strong organisational skills combined
with a naturally inquisitive mind and a thirst for knowledge.
The post holder will contribute
to the successful overall performance of WSFT by providing web and digital
communications support to the communications team. As a Global Digital Exemplar
Trust, WSFT is at the forefront of digital technology and wants its
communications to be no different.
In particular, the post holder
will be responsible for the day to day management of the Trusts website,
intranet, and social media channels.
The post holder will be required
to continuously update their knowledge and skills to ensure that the
organisation makes maximum use of the most appropriate digital communications
technologies and channels.
KEY TASKS:
Manage, co-ordinate and develop the WSFT
internet site, and maximise its effectiveness as a communication channel.
Manage Trusts social networking sites,
including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and Linked In. Ensure such sites
are checked and updated regularly, source regular original content for
channels, remove inappropriate comments and research and provide answers to
questions from the public and staff in a timely manner.
Take editorial responsibility for website and
intranet content. Develop and maintain appropriate quality control systems to
ensure information is accurate, timely, in line with legal requirements and on brand.
Market and promote the internet, intranet and
digital communication channels internally.
Provide advice to internal colleagues to
identify their needs, advising on all aspects of web development/digital communications.
Monitor access to digital platforms and evaluate
the effectiveness of such channels.
Produce and edit copy for the Trusts online
sites, including graphics/infographics.
Identify new media opportunities for engaging
with the public, stakeholders and staff.
Design and maintain discussion forums, web-logs,
online chats, surveys and other web/e-based engagement tools.
Provide advice, support and training to
divisions, departments and individuals to maximise intranet/internet
effectiveness and use, and to ensure consistent format and content style.
Liaise with external agencies in the development
of web and digital channels.
Lead on video and podcast production for the Trust.
Researching and assessing new software
technology for digital channels where it can be demonstrated to improve
efficiency and meet the communication needs of the Trust.
Work closely with the IT department and other
departments to ensure solutions are compatible with Trusts infrastructure and policies.
Facilitate equality, diversity and accessibility
with regards to the website and intranet sites.
Support on Trust wide, digital improvement
project and represent the communications team on project groups.
