Job summary

We are offering a permanent post at Band 6 Sister/Charge nurse position to join our team on the Respiratory ward. You will have the opportunity to be part of the senior nursing team, supporting the ward manager to oversee the delivery of patient care, the ward environment and management of resources.

You will lead a team of staff, help and guide with their development and career progression, undertake staff appraisal, be involved in recruitment and clinical audit and much more.

There are opportunities for career development in leadership and management.

Updating skills and gaining new ones

We will ensure that the successful candidate is supported during the transition and we will work with them to create an individual development plan. In return we need dedicated staff who want to help us to continue to provide high standards of patient care and safety within the team.

Main duties of the job

You will be pro-active in managing the ward and leading it on a day to day basis. Work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and their families to ensure that high quality care is delivered in the right place, at the right time.

We are a 27 bedded ward caring for patients with NIPPY (Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation), Tracheostomies and laryngectomies, as well as nursing patients that have pneumothorax and pleural effusions that may require chest drains, amongst other Respiratory illnesses and diseases, and Medical conditions.

You will have the opportunity to learn new or enhance respiratory skills and once expert in them be able to teach and guide the junior staff on the ward, by signing them as competent.
